Cryogenic storage of cells and samples
Cryogenic systems preserve biological samples at very low temperature for research, clinical, and reproductive uses. Liquid nitrogen is one storage technology.

Why cold storage works
Low temperatures slow chemical and biological processes that can degrade samples. Outcomes depend on sample type, freezing and thawing protocol, storage temperature, contamination controls, and monitoring.
Vessels and records
Systems may store samples in liquid nitrogen or cold vapor. Facilities plan ventilation, oxygen monitoring, alarms, backup capacity, and inventory control. “Somewhere in the cold tank” is not a sample location.
