Nitrogen-enriched air in aircraft fuel tanks
Some aircraft systems generate nitrogen-enriched air from cabin or engine air and route it to fuel-tank ullage. The goal is to reduce oxygen concentration and lower flammability risk.

Usually enriched air
An air separation module can produce nitrogen-enriched air rather than pure nitrogen, using membranes or molecular sieves. Design and performance depend on the aircraft and certification basis.
One safety layer
Fuel tank inerting complements maintenance and ignition-source control; it does not make tanks harmless. Nitrogen-enriched air also brings maintenance and oxygen-deficiency hazards around equipment.

The offer should stay above the low-bid zone, unlike a tank oxygen level under control.
